And, while we had a great idea, script and setting, we had hiccups along the way that made it impossible to get the film in on time. In short, we ran out of time. There is no real need to go into all the factors that caused this. Everyone was there and we all gave it our all. It just wasn’t in the cards. We have some good footage, and I know it will be finished up and screened for those of us who worked on it. I cannot wait to see it. We had a great crew and cast and everyone was excited and put everything they had into the project.
Damn, Illinois, you have nothing outside of Chicago but empty farmland! I rode through a good portion of IL during my Moonshine Lunch Run ride and there is nothing out there. It is a lot like Kansas where you have nothing but farmland forever. That, and tiny dying towns popping up on the road and disappearing in the mirror offering nothing to a passing traveler. In most cases, not even a dour local looking on suspiciously as you coast through. It felt like a post-apocalyptic landscape and I expected a hoard of zombies around each bend in the road. Thing is, there would not be enough people in the area to even constitute a hoard… It might be IL, but I bet those farmers out there are armed to the teeth.

It is that time of year again. Fair season at Ohio Renaissance Festival is in full swing. Forgot how tiring a full day at fair followed by the 2+ hour drive home can be. Got home last night at 10pm (roughly) and was in bed by 10:30pm, blinked my eyes and had to get up for work… It is always fun at fair, but it does take a lot of energy to make it through the day.
So, I have been working in computers as a career since 1995. A long time. In that period of time I learned how to type, more or less, without looking at the keyboard. I know, pretty much where the keys are and what they mean. However, today I was corrected by a user here at work on where a certain character is located on the keyboard.
The “uppercase 1.” Yep, I was told that the exclamation point was not an exclamation point but an uppercase 1. As in “you hold down shift and hit the 1 key.”
Yep, this is the mortar that holds together the bricks of my career. Open hand, insert face.
Nope, not much has happened this week. Last weekend, however, was guy’s weekend. And it was glorious. Filled with drunken laughter and games and one big “oh shit” moment for one of the guys. We have been going out to “The Cabin” since 1999 for these weekends. Not once has anyone had an issues coming down or going home. This weekend, however, Murphy stuck his leg out and tripped us up. Someone finally hit a deer. And it sucks. The only good thing about it is no one got hurt. Well, the deer did, but that little shit ran off before it could be processed into sausages and jerky. Other than that, the weekend went on as expected. And was a blast.
This week, for me, has been a nice short one. In fact, I had last Friday off, this Monday off, a 1/2 day today, and next Monday off. So, 3 short weeks in a row. And next weekend is the start of the RenFair in Eminence.
And I will end this short post here. Because of reasons.
And I mean really stupid user tricks. More along the lines of “you should never touch technology again” users. I follow some other blogs, RSS feeds and a couple forums. Also, I have 18 years of experience in the computer industry, a good bit of it with user support. One thing I have found in these years and on those sites is there are people who just should not be allowed to have a computer of any type. These are the ones who could break a 10-key calculator.
This has been a rather inconsequential week. Nothing has really happened or changed or anything. No new toys, no existential crisis. It has just been a blah week. I did have a date Wednesday. It was good, she was nice. Smart and cute. Don’t know if there is a connection, so will try and plan another night out and see.
A friend of mine is staying with me while her husband is down trying to find a place for them to live in the Florida Keys where he starts a new job soon. They were abruptly pushed out of their apartment. Figured, since the basement was empty it would be somewhere they could land in the mean time.
Anyway, just posting this up for my “at least one post a week” goal.
There are days when it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed. This is one of those days. No need for details (they don’t matter anyway) just wanted to throw this up there to the “powers that be.”
